View of sailors on the deck of a dhow (sailboat) travelling through the Persian Gulf from Dubai to Bahrain Island. On the left a group of men stand alongside a length of rolled sail. The men are tying the sail onto a wooden pole or yard. High above them another sail is filled with wind. In the distance beyond the sea is choppy, with a few whitecaps. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's May 18-28, 1948 journey by dhow from Dubai to Bahrain Island.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
