Description
Portrait of Salim bin Kabina, one of Wilfred Thesiger's Bedouin companions, standing in Al Khatam or Al Humrah sands south of Al Ain. Salim bin Kabina, a tribesman of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, stands in the near central distance on a sand ridge rippled by secondary dunes, looking into the far distance. He balances a rifle, in a tasselled case, over his shoulder and holds a camel stick. Wind blows against him from the left. In the distance other members of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trek across rolling sands scattered with tufts of qassis (sedge). In the far distance a member of the party stands at the top of a high dune, which rises to a point in the far right distance.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
