In the left foreground a man stands on the deck of a dhow holding a section of a long rolled sail. On the left a man steps over the sail beside a group of men tying the sail onto a wooden pole or yard. In the background the sea is choppy, with a few whitecaps. In the far left distance land is visible along the horizon. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's May 18-28, 1948 journey by dhow from Dubai to Bahrain Island.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
