Seated portrait of two members of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party and a Manasir man beside at a campfire in the Baynunah sands. On the left a Manasir man with a thick beard and buckteeth crouches beside two members of Wilfred Thesiger's party. Sahail bin Tahi, a tribesman of the Mudairiba lineage of Rashid Bedouin (centre), kneels in the centre, beside a pile of firewood. Sahail bin Tahi has a thick grey beard and sits with his hands folded in his lap. On the right Salim bin Ghabaisha, a tribesman of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, kneels next to the fire making coffee. He wears cartridge over his thobe (long shirt and a dark ghutra (headscarf). Behind the men tufts of vegetation grow in the sand in the background. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
