View of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trekking through Al Batin sands during their journey across the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali) from Al Dhafra sands to Liwa oasis. Members of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party, tribesmen of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, ride across a large salt flat (sabkha) with their baggage camels. Behind the men a high dune massif with a sheer face borders the plain. In the foreground a lone bush grows in the bare sands at the right. In the distance the salt flat is sparsely dotted with salt bushes.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
