Description
Standing three-quarter length portrait of Mahalhal bin 'Ati, one of Wilfred Thesiger's Bedouin guides, taken during the party's journey from Ramlat al Ghirbaniyat to Furai well. Mahalhal bin 'Ati, a tribesman of the Al Khamis lineage of Awamir Bedouin, stands in the foreground facing towards the left. He wears a cartridge belt over a light coloured thobe (shirt) and a thick ghutra (headscarf). In the distance behind him lies an empty flat plain.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
