Description
Full length standing portrait of two men in Al Ain/Buraimi oasis. Two Arab men stand in on sandy ground. The man on the left leans on his rifle, and the man on the right holds a camel stick. Each man wears a khanjar (dagger) on a belt over his thobe (long shirt) and a ghutra (headscarf). Behind the men is a wide open field with grass and shrubs. In the far left distance a date palm grove is visible. This image was taken during April 6-30, 1948, when Wilfred Thesiger stayed at Al Muwaiji fort in Al Ain as a guest of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
