Description
Full-length group portrait of Sheikh Mubarak bin Mohammed Al Nahyan standing with two other boys from the Al Nahyan family in Al Ain. All three boys stand in a line. Each boy wears a thobe (long shirt) and a headscarf (ghutra), and holds a rifle. The young boy at the centre, wearing a thick agal (head rope) over his ghutra, may be Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan. The tall boy on the far right is Sheikh Mubarak bin Mohammed Al Nahyan. In the background the sand is bare of vegetation, and in the far distance there is a line of trees. This image was taken during April 6-30, 1948, when Wilfred Thesiger stayed at Al Muwaiji fort in Al Ain as a guest of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
